Our project site is next to the local school in Kibaoni village, located in the Rombo District of the Kilimanjaro Region in Tanzania. Tanzania is the largest country in East Africa, generally peaceful and stable. It is recognized, world-wide, for its breathtaking natural beauty, natural wonders and spectacular wildlife; Zanzibar, Kilimanjaro, Serengeti, Lake Victoria, Ngorongoro Crater, etc.
LOCAL EXCURSIONS
As part of the workshop we will make visits to the surrounding areas to view local building techniques and understand ways to incorporate the local culture in the Kibaoni community library.
Tanzania offers the visitor a wide variety of quintessential African experiences. From Mt. Kilimanjaro to the Serengeti plains and herds of wild animals, many of Africa’s iconic imagery is located in the region surrounding the project site.
Depending on time and finances, you may consider visiting some of the evocative corners in Tanzania such as:
- Arusha National Park
- Mt. Kilimanjaro / Mt. Meru
- Ngorongoro Crater
- Serengeti National Park
- Zanzibar
- Lake Viktoria
- Tarangire National Park
- Manyara National Park
It is the perfect introduction for first time volunteers to East Africa.
